An acidic body contributes to disease
Microbes live in our bodies all the time, and change their form into bacteria, viruses, yeasts, or moulds as the internal environment changes. In healthy bodies these microbes are inert, or have positive roles in cell and gene repair. But when our body tissues become too acidic, these microbes take on a different purpose in the body, a role which is perfectly logical if you think about it: they decompose dead tissue and recycle it back into the soil of the earth.
Just before death, our tissues become more acidic, thereby giving the signal to our internal microbes that we are dying, a signal to the effect that it is time to decompose us! The symptoms would begin at the most accessible or vulnerable sites in our bodies, and relates to any of the diseases humans get. But in reality there is one condition only - over acidification- which indicates to microbes that we are ready to die and decompose.
Causes of over-acidity are:
- the presence of metals, toxins, chemicals, pesticides and pharmaceuticals
- acid-forming diet
- the presence of a damp condition and/or a damp environment
- drinking insufficient water
- insufficient oxygenation and lack of exercise
Diet - Foods are either acid-forming, or alkali-forming. This is not to be confused with the acidity of food itself. For example, although a lemon is classed as acidic, it is alkali-forming in the body because, by the time it has been digested, the ash that remains is alkaline.
A healthy body should be slightly alkaline (pH 7.35 – pH 7.45) and in order to acqire a diet which helps maintain this pH, we should choose foods which are 20% acid-forming and 80% alkali-forming. As a general rule, fruits, vegetables and herbs are alkali-forming, and meat, fish, poultry, dairy produce, pulses, legumes and grains tend to be acid-forming in varying degrees.
Aids to alkalising:
- Kelp
- Spirulina
- Organic wheat grass
- Sprouted beans, seeds and pulses
- Bi-carbonate of soda
- Adequate water!
- Oxygen
